blog fun part 2

I think that Phoebe is such and important person to Holden she is still very innocent in his eyes and thats why he is so close to her. In the book Phoebe shows you why Holden is the way he is. It shows you why he hates the grown up world and why he likes children so much. I thinks its because he likes the innocence of children and how they have not been completly molded to the people that the world wants them to be, they are still who they want to be. I just kind of wonder how holden is going to feel about Phoebe when she does start to grow up and become more like everyone else, which I think she already is starting that process. I am not sure if he will like when she does let her innocence go.....while your looking at this you should notice that I bloged last week and change that in powerschool :)

  1. Morgan, you are right. I personally think that Phoebe is Holden's foil. The side which will follow society's way of life. This would be a great discussion question for class.

  2. Yeah I think Phoebe is so important to Holden's life. We have only seen one conversation with the two of them throughout the whole book. Holden has talked about Phoebe a lot throughout the book and said lots of good things about her. I think Holden will stop talking to Phoebe when she gets older and becomes "phony".

  3. You just helped me make the connection that Holden didn't want to grow up and that's why he likes kids so much! Also i feel you on the whole powerschool thing :) ;). And back to the book: I totally agree that Holden likes kids because he knows that they are not yet molded on how society wants them to be. I think that that helps us explain the real meaning of the term "Phony."
